With a valid state-issued or student ID, adults and their accompanying children will gain free general admission to all permanent exhibits, the Amphibians special exhibit, aquatic presentations (subject to availability) and seasonal Stingray Touch (open late May to October). The 4-D Experience admission is a paid upgrade for members and non-members.
Please note: A $3 transaction fee applies to Illinois Free Day tickets reserved online. This helps ensure access to as many neighbors as possible by validating orders.
Online Illinois Resident Free Day tickets must be reserved at least one day in advance. Illinois Resident Free Day tickets are expected to sell out, so they recommend reserving online in advance!
Note that free days at the Shedd are very popular. Expect crowds. Order tickets online as noted above or arrive early to ensure admission because they sometimes reach capacity by the early afternoon.
