Celebrate the founding of the Chicago Academy of Sciences with an exclusive tour of our off-site Collections facility. The Academy’s scientific collection houses over 350,000 specimens dating back to the mid-1800s, and only a small fraction of these are on exhibit at the Academy’s Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Reptiles, mammals, birds and eggs, insects and bugs, plants, minerals, manuscripts, cultural artifacts and more are all represented in the Academy’s collections. Usually only accessible by appointment, researchers, artists, authors, and filmmakers have used our specimens to document the past, interpret the present, and imagine the future.
Tours are appropriate for ages 10 and up. The cost is $5 per person
