Not only is Chicago home to many world-class museums, but our city has a thriving arts scene. From Broadway plays to opera, music, dance, and, of course, improv comedy, there’s no shortage of family-friendly cultural offerings available to broaden one’s horizons.
All STEM and no STEAM (STEM + Arts) can make life a drag. The STEM Kids Chicago team gets occasional invitations to preview local shows and we use this space to share the ones we think your tweens and older kids will enjoy (especially if your child has a Teen Arts Pass). Here’s what’s coming up!
Now Playing in Chicago
Cirque du Soleil: VOLTA
VOLTA, like all Cirque shows, is filled with excitement and ingenuity. The title refers to a sudden about-face, a change in emotion or idea. It also speaks to the jolt of energy delivered through the show. In fact, some of the acts will leave you breathless as you watch the performers, bounce, leap, spin, and flip during the show. Take a sneak peek here. VOLTA is held under the signature big top at the Soldier Field South Lot, 1410 Museum Campus Drive in Chicago and runs through July 6, 2019. Tickets, starting at $49, are available for purchase here.
